2013 Ford Fusion with the 1.6-liter EcoBoost engine

Sleek design will differentiate Fusion from other sedans in the midsize segment, with class-leading fuel economy in gasoline (37 mpg on the highway with the 1.6-liter EcoBoost engine), hybrid (at least 47 mpg in the city) and an all-new plug-in hybrid (with more than 100 MPGe).

Ford CEO Alan Mulally’s “One Ford” initiative, aimed at creating a global product portfolio with a consistent look and mission, has certainly been fruitful. A quick stroll through a Ford showroom will reveal models like the Fiesta, Focus, and upcoming 2013 Escape, a trio of vehicles whose genetics evidently were extracted from a common Petri dish. Ford wisely chose to let the inbreeding continue, this time with designers swabbing a touch of the corporate DNA on the all-new 2013 Ford Fusion.

The new Fusion’s overall look was previewed by last year’s Evos concept. The production model looks like, well, a big Focus, or possibly a small Taurus. Surprised? Neither are we, especially given the spy shots we nabbed last summer. (Europeans waiting for the new-generation Mondeo will be even less surprised than we were here, since this Fusion provides a deep look into that car.) But lack of astonishment or no, there’s no denying that the new Fusion is pretty darn handsome, even if it’s not as aggressively creased as the Focus.

Ford Fiesta 1.6L Sport Ti-VCT

This Fiesta is powered by a 1.6l Duratec Ti-VCT which has a four (4) cylinder DOHC 16V engine which pumps out 122 (90 KW) ps at 6300 rpm while max torque is 148nm at 4300 rpm. Mate this to the 6-Speed Powershift® Automatic Transmission with dual-clutch technology and you get fuel efficiency and loads of torque when you want a more spirited drive! Who says you can’t have your cake and eat it?

The sealed transmission requires no maintenance according to Ford so you don’t need to go change your gear oil every 20,000km or face the consequences if you forget.

For you women drivers, there’s even the HLA or Hill Launch Assist system which holds the car steady in D for a couple of seconds when you’re on a slope. No more panicking when having to stop on Jalan Maarof during a traffic jam.

Ti-VCT (Twin Independent Variable Camshaft Timing), gives up to 4.5% fuel efficiency, 7% peak power and 5% low speed torque. Working like a ratchet, the one-way valves allow precise timing of camshaft events, continually optimizing timing to provide maximum output or fuel economy, based on driver input.

2013 Ford Focus ST

Focus ST delivers true performance in every aspect.

It combines power with precision, strength with agility, force with finesse. The high-output 2.0L EcoBoost^® engine is built to give ST a signature sound and feel, while high-performance brakes and a uniquely tuned sport suspension help make it the street fighter that it is. This is a vehicle that’s been reworked in its entirety to forge a perfectly balanced blend of refined engineering and undiluted adrenaline.

With a 2.0-liter, direct-injected, 160-hp motor and variable valve timing, as well as a five-speed manual. But, the car to wait for is the 2013 Focus ST, which debuts in early 2012. It gets a six-speed manual with the same EcoBoost (turbocharged) 2.0-liter as the much larger Edge and Explorer and will be good for somewhere in the neighborhood of 250 hp, which puts it in league with hot hatches like the MazdaSpeed3 and beyond the output of the VW GTI. Ford is also promising a tauter suspension and meatier tires as well as bigger brakes to go with all that horsepower. Expect to pay at least $25,000.

2012 Ford Mustang GT 5.0

Until now, we have only had details on the 2012 Mustang Boss 302 and the 2012 Mustang Shelby GT500. We think it’s high time we find out what the 2012 model year will bring for the Mustang GT 5.0.

A leaked ordering guide suggests that the 2012 GT 5.0 will carry over mostly unchanged, with just a few tricks made in order to keep the car fresh. The list of new options include a new exterior color Lava Red Metallic that replaces the current Sterling Gray Metallic. The list of new options include selectable effort electric power assist steering (EPAS), sun visors with a multi purpose storage system, and illuminated vanity mirrors.

Everything under the hood remains unchanged. Customers will get the same 302 cubic inch 32 valve V8 that puts out 412 HP and 390 lb-ft of torque while returning a very economical 25 MPG on the highway.

Exterior and Interior
The 2012 Mustang GT 5.0 will look unchanged for 2012. It will be distinguished by the other Mustangs in the line-up by a dark chrome pony in the grille, dual bright rolled exhaust tips, LED sequential tail lamps a rear spoiler, and 18 x8" Wide Spoke Painted Aluminum Wheels. The interior gets bucket sport seats and different chrome accents.

The Engine 

Under the hood there will be the same 302 cubic inch 32 valve V8 that makes 412 HP and 390 lb-ft of torque while returning a very economical 25 MPG on the highway. The engine is mated to a standard 6-speed manual, but also a 6-speed automatic is offered as an option.

The Competition 

The most obvious competitor for the Mustang GT 5.0 is the Chevrolet Camaro SS. Like the GT 5.0, the Camaro SS is powered by a powerful 6.2L V-8 engine with an output of 422 HP. With 10 extra horsepower, the Camaro seems have a slight advantage over the Mustang, but with the right driver, that won’t amount to much. Plus the Mustang GT 5.0 handles better, looks better, and has better quality material. Oh, and we can’t forget about the fact that it is also cheaper.

 

When Can I Buy One? 

Expect the 2012 Mustang GT 5.0 to make debut in early 2011 with sales to begin shortly after. Pricing for the car will come with a $500 discount from the previous year’s model. This year, the 2012 model will come with a $29,995 price tag, falling under the $30,000 mark. Unfortunately, the Premium GT model will see a price increase of $200 from the previous year, which isn’t all that high, while the Premium GT Convertible will also carry a $700 increase from last year’s model.
